db01f2a91b MM-34002: Improve AddUserToChannel (#17174)
* MM-34002: Improve AddUserToChannel

When we would add a user to a channel, we would
check whether the user is removed from that team or not.

During LDAP sync, this check is not required because the
team member would have just been created. Hence, we
pass a boolean flag to bypass the check.

And with that done, we can freely query the replica.

4f0cfbe329 MM-33913: Fix read-after-write issues with team member (#17173)
During LDAP sync, we would call AddTeamMember which had a read-after-write issue
where we would create a team member but then immediately after that
query the team member.

The same pattern was found in:
AddTeamMember
AddTeamMembers
AddTeamMemberByToken

To fix this, we just return the inserted team member from AddUserToTeam and use that
instead of query GetTeamMember again.

021c90f29f MM-30882: Fix read-after-write issue for demoting user (#16911)
* MM-30882: Fix read-after-write issue for demoting user

In (*App).DemoteUserToGuest, we would demote a user, and then immediately
read it back to do future operations from the user. This reading back
of the user had the effect of sticking the old value into the cache
after which it would never be updated.

There was another issue along with this, which was when the invalidation
message would broadcast across the cluster, it would hit the cache invalidation
problem where an unrelated store call would miss the cache because
it was invalidated, and then again read from replica and stick the old value.

To fix all these, we return the new value directly from the store method
to avoid having the app to read it again.

And we add a map in the localcache layer which tracks invalidations made,
and then switch to use master if it's true.

The core change is fairly limited, but due to changing the store method signatures,
a lot of code needed to be updated to pass "context.Background". Therefore the PR
just "appears" to be big, but the main changes are limited to app/user.go,
sqlstore/user_store.go and user_layer.go

d8b94836cf MM-32471: Use created user to update roles (#16895)
During user creation via CLI, we would create the user,
but pass the user ID instead when updating the roles.

This falls into the category of read-after-write within a single request.

directly update the roles.

1b67322fb9 MM-27744 disable Zap for unit tests. (#15398)
MM-27744 disable Zap for unit tests.

Zap has no concept of shutdown or close. Zap is only shutdown when the app exits. Not a problem for console logging, but when creating a new Zap logger that outputs to files on every unit test, that leaves no easy way to clean up until process exit. Depending on what else is running this can exhaust all file handles and cause unit tests to fail.

Zap is now disabled unit tests and uses Logr instead, regardless of config settings. `make test-server` peak file handle usage dropped from ~5K to less than 100.

11513a8d0d MM-27507: Propagate rate limit errors to client (#15230)
* MM-27507: Propagate rate limit errors to client

We return an error from SendInviteEmails instead of just logging it
to let the client know that a rate limit error has happened.

The status code is chosen as 413 (entity too large) instead of 429 (too many requests)
because it's not the request which is rate limited, but the payload inside it which is.

Ideally, the email sending should have been implemented by a queue which would just return
an error to the client when full. That is also why we are not returning an X-Retry-After
and X-Reset-After in the headers because that would mix with the actual rate limiting.

A separate header X-Email-Invite-Reset-After might do the job, but it comes at an extra cost
of additional API surface and a clunky API. Instead, that information is contained in the error
response. The web client needs to just surface the error. An API client will have to do
a bit more work to parse the error if it needs to automatically know when to retry. Given that
an email sending client is not a very common use case, we decide to keep the API clean.

This decision can be revisited if it becomes problematic in the future.
